10 Fast Fingers is a web tool that allows students to test and improve their typing speed through a number of engaging typing games. Typing or keyboarding fluency has become an important skill for the 21st century learner. In fact, it is not only learning to type that matters in today’s knowledge economy but more importantly, learning to type fast

The great thing about 10 Fast Fingers, from an educational perspective, is that as students learn to type fast, they also get to practice the most common words of  language and thus grow and enrich their vocabularies.

Becoming fluent in typing has several cognitive benefits most important of which is an increase in one’s degree of focus. Each time you look down to search for keys on your keyboard, your general focus is disrupted and, depending on how fast you can pick up where you left,  switching back and forth between the screen and the keyboard can take a tremendous toll on your focus and attention.

For slow typers, typing becomes a challenging obstacle that can severely undermine the learning process. Instead of using typing as a means to facilitate their learning, it becomes the focus of learning thus adding an extra layer of difficulty and shifting the focus of learning from the end product to the medium.
